The anticipation is building! With Stroud Book Festival 2024 now less than two weeks away, we’d like to thank everyone who has bought tickets so far. Lots of people have been kind enough to tell us how much they are looking forward to this year’s Festival: we’re very much looking forward to welcoming you!
If you haven’t booked any of our events yet, there’s still time. Tickets are available for most of our events, and to find out more, pick up a copy of our printed brochure from Stroud Bookshop, Stroud Library, Stroud Sub Rooms, Waitrose and other venues across Stroud.

GLORIOUS GLOUCESTERSHIRE QUIZ NIGHT with Mark Cummings
Wednesday 6th November, 7.00-8.300pm, Sub Rooms
To get the core programme of Stroud Book Festival 2024 underway in style, we present a special Quiz Night in aid of a brilliant local cause. Hosted by Gloucestershire broadcasting legend, Mark Cummings, all profits from the event will go to Stroud-based charity, Allsorts.
The Quiz Night was inspired by Mark’s new book, “Glorious Gloucestershire” which is a love letter to the county and a travel guide that reaches deep into the soul of the people, traditions and landscape that make this area so special.
Mark is a multiple award-winning BBC radio presenter, journalist and writer and has been broadcasting for over 40 years.
Tickets for Stroud Book Festival’s Glorious Gloucestershire Quiz cost £12, and quizzers are invited to enter a team of up to 8 people. Alternatively, come and join a team on the night. An array of fantastic prizes are on offer for the winning team.

Saturday 8th November, 11.00am -12.30pm & 1.00-2.30pm
We’re always keen to support fresh writing talent as part of Stroud Book Festival. In this new event for 2024, supported by Arts Council England, we present short talks and readings from an eclectic selection of Gloucestershire writers who have been invited to share extracts from their work, whether that be a novel in progress, a selection of poems, or a fully-fledged work of non-fiction.
Details of the full line up will be available on our website shortly.
Why not drop in to this free event to hear some to hear some original work, some of it being performed in public for the very first time.
SISTERS IN FICTION with Emily Howes & Rachel Joyce
Sunday 10th November, 3.30-4.30pm, Lansdown Hall
From Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” to Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women”, female sibling relationships are at the centre of many famous works for page and stage.
They also feature in the latest novels by two acclaimed fiction writers, Emily Howes, and Stroud’s own Rachel Joyce. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating sisterly discussion with these brilliant novelists.
