Dear Friends of Stroud Book Festival,

In this, our 5^th birthday year, we are thrilled to launch our online programme for 2020.

Every single one of our 24 online events has been programmed in the spirit of celebrating community, not just in Stroud and the Five Valleys, but also in the context of our wider world.  What’s more, all our events this year are free, thanks to a wonderful community-led fundraising initiative this past Summer.

In these challenging times, it is our hope that our 2020 programme will stand as a comforting, inspiring and thought-provoking response to the pandemic, upholding the value of culture in enriching our lives.  As Festival favourite Sue Limb writes, ‘in this dark emergency, in which we’ve all been so isolated and lonely, what could be more healing, more restorative than sharing our enjoyment of books and writers with our community, our beloved friends and neighbours?’
