Since our last newsletter, the Stroud Book Festival team has been hard at work finalising our events for this November’s Festival.

Our full 2024 programme will be launched during the first week of September when tickets go on sale via Stroud Sub Rooms box office. We’ll be in touch shortly to confirm the exact dates.

We’ll also be welcoming activism collective Led By Donkeys; author and campaigner Dr Rachel Clarke to talk about her new book “The Story of a Heart”; Chloe Dalton to discuss her incredible nature writing debut, “Raising Hare”; Dale Vince & Simon Opher MP to tackle how we progress on the path to a greener Britain; and Stroud Book Festival favourite Rachel Joyce with an exclusive preview of “The Homemade God”, her wonderful new novel publishing in April 2025.

For younger readers, we present storytelling superstars Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre with a fantastically fun family event about the spooky latest book in their Adventuremice! series.

FIRST THURSDAY PAINSWICK & STROUD BOOK FESTIVAL PRESENT

For the first time this year we’re delighted to be working with our friends at First Thursday Painswick, who stage an excellent year-round programme of book-inspired events.

On Thursday 7^th November, we’re teaming up to welcome Patrick Grant – clothier, author and revered judge on BBC’s “The Great British Sewing Bee” – to discuss his book “Less”, a passionate and revealing account of our broken global system when it comes to our consumption of clothes, and how we might make ourselves happier by rediscovering the joy of living with fewer, better-quality things.

The event will take place at the Beacon Hall, Painswick.
